Responsibilities:
  •  Lead the creative development of interior design concepts from initial vision through design development, ensuring a strong and cohesive design narrative throughout each project.
  • Elevate our already high standard of design by bringing fresh perspectives, thoughtful innovation, and a refined design sensibility.
  • Develop interiors that are conceptually driven and intrinsically connected to the architecture, creating spaces where architecture, interiors, materials, lighting, and detailing work seamlessly together.
  • Curate sophisticated palettes of materials, finishes, furnishings, fixtures, and lighting that reinforce the overall design vision.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, designers, and technologists in a highly integrated studio environment. At SA+D, architecture and interiors are conceived as one unified design process.
  • Clearly communicate design intent through sketches, renderings, presentations, and comprehensive drawing packages, ensuring the original vision is maintained throughout documentation and construction.
Qualifications:
  • 7+years of professional interior design experience, preferably with a recognized design-forward architecture or interior design practice.
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional conceptual thinking, refined execution, and a consistently high standard of design across a range of project types.
  • A sophisticated understanding of spatial design, proportion, materiality, colour, texture, and craftsmanship.
  • Strong experience developing interior concepts into well-resolved, highly detailed design solutions.
  • Proficiency in Revit is essential.
  • Hospitality experience—including hotels, restaurants, and resort environments—is highly valued.
  • Experience with furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) selection and specification is a strong asset. Procurement experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience using lighting as an integral component of the architectural and interior design experience.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including client-facing experience, project leadership, and consultant coordination.
  • Experience directing technologists to translate design intent into comprehensive construction documentation while maintaining design integrity.

About The Role:
  • Seeking an experienced Construction Administration Architect or Technologist to take a leadership role in CA across our studio.
  • You will be traveling for projects in Edmonton and Jasper and potentially Banff, Lake Louise, and Western Canada).
  • A unique opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys CA as a core part of their career and wants to help build strong standards, processes, and mentorship within a growing architectural practice.
  • Lead and execute Construction Administration across multiple projects (approx. 80% of your role)
  • This role is hands-on and field-focused. You’ll be on site, reviewing work, solving problems, issuing documentation, and working directly with contractors, consultants, and our internal project teams.
Responsibilities:
  • Establish and improve CA standards, processes, and documentation rigor across the firm.
  • Conduct regular site visits, field reviews, and deficiency reviews.
  • Manage RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, site instructions, change documentation, and payment certifications.
  • Act as a key point of contact between contractors, consultants, and project teams during construction.
  • Provide mentorship and training to intermediate staff currently supporting CA (Project Architects, Interior Designers, Technologists).
  • Support project teams through construction problem-solving and risk management.
  • Maintain Revit involvement as required to support CA and coordination.
