Project Overview

Shugarman Architecture acted in numerous capacities on this project, but primarily we acted as the Owner Design Representative; in this capacity, Shugarman set all aesthetic design objectives, worked with design teams to develop and resolve schematic design, and liaised with senior Marriott design personnel to ensure final conformance to brand standards. We also were tasked with specific design exercises, including but not limited to:

The final design iterations of the 17,000 square foot Archetype fitness facility
Configuring the spa and pool amenities
All final FFE review and approvals
Main lobby lounge audio visual integration that exceeded brand standard
All art selection and procurement
Exterior façade development and signing

Targeted value engineering
As coordinating architect of Ice District, we also held the responsibility of ensuring the building and the interiors seamlessly integrated into the central ICE district streetscape and Plaza.
The project was a tremendous success in terms of public endorsement and visitor experience. the JW has assumed the leadership role in the Edmonton Premium market.
