Westbrook Residence

Project Overview

Located on an expansive lot in Southwest Edmonton, The Westbrook residence is nestled among tall Blue Spruce and Poplar trees.

For a family who wanted an extra-large garage for sports activities through winter, it was natural to separate the garage from the rest of the house.  The separation was complimented with an outdoor living space and a landscaped courtyard area placed between the garage and the 2 storey house, in both the front and back.

The front courtyard is designed with overhead louvres to mitigate the amount of summer sun while letting the winter light into the interior. The back outdoor living space, on the other hand,  has a canopy to withstand the weather.

Similarly, interior architectural elements such as the stair and vertical wood louvers are placed to provide privacy for the family while keeping the free flow open interior space.
